Rescoring and Sound Design for Animated Short Film

The Remedy 健忆舒心茶 is a rescoring and sound design project created for an animated short film directed by Zilai Feng. The film follows a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner preparing a bowl of “memory soup,” which gradually opens a journey into childhood memories, unresolved emotions, and psychological struggles.

Sound functions as a psychological thread between reality, memory, and imagination. It moves between closely synchronized gestures and more abstract emotional spaces, using shifts in timbre, density, space, and texture to reshape the viewer’s perception of the images.

At the center of the project is the coexistence of cuteness and unease. Playful and familiar sounds gradually become strange, lighthearted rhythms develop tension, and fragmented sonic materials emerge as traces of memory. Sound therefore becomes not simply an accompaniment to the film, but an active force in shaping its emotional and psychological world.
